Letter from the Mayor

On behalf of the Charlottesville City Council, I am delighted to have the opportunity to welcome you to First Night Virginia’s annual celebration of the arts. We are very proud and fortunate to be the home of one of the premier and longest lasting First Night events in the nation.  For 28 years this independent, non-profit organization has made downtown Charlottesville the place to be on New Years Eve. Not only is First Night a chance to ring in the New Year in an alcohol-free, family-friendly environment, but it is also a chance to experience a wide variety of performing and visual arts with a broad cross-section of our community.

Please join with your friends and neighbors as Charlottesville plays host to the region for this unique community celebration, and help us welcome in the New Year!
