Join the Albemarle Charlottesville Historical Society on New Year's Eve for "Unique Endings", a cemetery walking tour focusing on some of the more unusual deaths experienced by the residents of Maplewood Cemetery. Stroll around Historic Court Square, familiar to Thomas Jefferson, James Madison and James Monroe. Learn about the early years of Charlottesville, its citizens, businesses, and buildings.
The tour begins at 4:15 pm at the Maple Street entrance to the cemetery and will last approximately 45 minutes.
Farm Exhibit: Albemarle Charlottesville Historical Society at McIntire Buildng 200 Second St. NE, to view our new exhibit, Historical Farms of Albemarle County. This exhibit features the history as well as photographs of some of Albemarle County’s oldest farms, including Dovedale, Mooreland, Redlands, and several others. The Open House is 3:00-6:15 pm. To premiere on First Night.
