First Night Virginia is an annual “community celebration of the arts” that began in Charlottesville in 1982 and is the second oldest First Night in the country. 2015 will be the 33nd annual festival of the arts with many family-friendly activities on and around the historic Downtown Mall.

Children's Ballet: The Nutcracker

This special performance by Charlottesville Ballet celebrates the magic of the new year with excerpts from the classic holiday ballet "The Nutcracker." The professional company performs highlights from the ballet in an interactive performance that's designed especially for young children and families. After the show, families can enjoy a meet & greet with the dancers and learn more about Charlottesville Ballet Academy. Celebrate with Charlottesville Ballet and dance into the new year!

Kid Pan Alley's Mission is to inspire and empower children to work together to become creators of their own music and to rekindle creativity as a core value in education.

Ragged Mountain String Band plays traditional old-time fiddle tunes and banjo songs from Appalachia, suitable for dancing or listening. High Energy Old-Time Fiddle and Banjo Tunes, Impassioned Songs of Life, Love, Lust, Loss, and a Lot More from the Mountains of the Virginias and Carolinas.
